5 December 2024 – Script Templates Retired
Script Templates were retired. Before AI Creators, Script Templates helped you write your video text with step-by-step storytelling instructions. Now AI Creators do this work for you.
At the same time, the screen for creating a new script changed. You set the Asset Library, Stock Asset and Music controls on the same settings page as Title, Format and Themes, so you can go to the Script Editor one step sooner.

December 2024 – Preview Downloads Retired
Downloading preview videos was retired, after improvements to slide and video previews and faster rendering. The Preview option was removed, and the button in the Storyboard Editor was renamed Create Video. When you click Download, you get a high-quality video that you can share with your team for feedback or publish right away.

November 2024 – Shareable Links and Renamed Buttons
Navigation was improved with a shareable link and renamed buttons:
Shareable link: the video thumbnail on the Create dashboard got a shareable link, to speed up feedback rounds and publishing.
Project Assets: in the Projects view, the Asset Library button in the top-right corner of each project was renamed Project Assets, because it stores the assets for that project.
Edit Storyboard: for users with access to the Storyboard Editor, the green button in the top-right corner of the Script Editor was renamed from Create Video to Edit Storyboard. To create a video directly from your script, you open the Settings menu and click Create Video.
12 November 2024 – Import Images From a URL
When you entered a URL, Storykit could import (scrape) high-quality images from the website at the same time as the text. Images larger than 1080 × 1080 px showed on the same page as your text in the Create New flow, and you picked which images to include or exclude.
Storykit AI prioritized assets for your video in this order:
Scraped assets. To use none, you click Exclude all.
Assets from the selected asset library.
Stock assets, if they are turned on and allowed.

6 November 2024 – Optional Instructions in the Create New Flow
Optional instructions were added at the start of the Create New flow. They help you create a draft video much closer to the final version, by steering the AI to focus on a specific theme, challenge, solution or demographic. Not all Creators have optional instructions.

1 October 2024 – 14 New Subtitle Styles and Add All
14 new subtitle styles were released for talking head videos, giving you more control over the look of your subtitles, from text, backplates and fonts to positioning and alignment. The styles included:
Artificial word timings: each word in the subtitle displays when it's spoken.
Large text size for more impact.
Different backplates and shadows.
The Theme font for your subtitles.
The Add all button was also added, so you could add all the paragraphs from your clip at once instead of one by one.

18 September 2024 – New Streamlined Workflow
A new workflow was released to take you from text to an almost finished video as quickly as possible. You paste a URL or text, make some basic choices (or none), and get a video that is ready to publish. You can still edit it to make it 100% yours. A step-by-step guide is built into the tool.

Five slides were added:
Block Flip: a quick, versatile slide with a simple animation that works well when you chain several Block Flip slides one after another. Watch the Block Flip example.
Side Icon: a large selection of icons to choose from. It works out of the box with the default Start, Middle and End behavior, and has many controls and options. Watch the Side Icon example.
Wiggle Text: an eye-catching animation for when the mood is light and fun. It might not suit every topic. Watch the Wiggle Text example.
Letter Box: two text fields that emerge from the top and bottom of the slide, for when the background asset is the main star. Watch the Letter Box example.
Color Split: two texts with plates that cover the entire slide. Use it as a scroll-stopping intro, as a divider to pivot to another topic, or to emphasize a point. It is very customizable. Watch the Color Split example.

Event Agenda Highlight: takes a full event program, finds the main theme, picks three speakers and three presentations and panels to market, and adds more from the agenda.
Expertise & Insight: a shorter Creator that focuses on the main speaker or speakers and their expertise, with insights relevant to the target audience. It adds the date and time and ends with a simple call to action.
Common Pain Points: a shorter Creator that focuses on the challenge someone interested in the event subject would have, without agenda details. It adds the date, time and place and a simple call to action.
