The Summary

Purpose

This format distills source content into four essential points, ordered so each builds on the previous one. Unlike Key Takeaways, which editorializes and highlights, The Summary stays neutral and faithful to the source. It is pure compression designed to help audiences understand the core argument without reading the full piece.

Structure

  • The carousel opens with a headline slide, followed by a context slide about what is being summarized.

  • Four points follow, each split across two slides. The first slide is a clear, informative statement. The second slide explains it faithfully to the source.

  • The carousel closes with a call to action.

Best used when

  • The source content is long or dense and the audience needs a shorter version

  • The goal is to help the audience redistribute the content to their own network

  • A neutral, journalistic tone suits the content better than editorial framing
