How do I create a sound file from my video?

On a Mac:

  1. Open the video file in Quicktime

  2. Choose File

  3. Click on Export As

  4. Choose Audio Only

  5. Pick your destination and save.

  6. Done.

On a Windows computer:

(Or a Mac), unfortunately they seem to need additional software for this.

  1. Download VLC (free and pretty much standard) at https://www.videolan.org/

  2. Open VLC

  3. Choose Media (or File)

  4. Choose Convert / Save

  5. Click browse and choose your file, or drag and drop your video file.

  6. Choose the profile “mp3

  7. Choose your destination and save.

Online tool for extracting sound from a video file:

  1. There are a few free tools to do this, here we’re using: https://audio-extractor.net

  2. Upload your video file, wait for it to complete.

  3. Select “mp3" as format.

  4. Click “Extract audio”.

  5. Confirm the download in the next step by clicking “Download”.

  6. Done.
